I work under my maiden name, Catherine Ingleby, and have painted professionally for nearly three decades! I love painting a variety of subjects, ranging from simple still lifes and landscapes to portraits of people and pets. My work is characterized by a strong use of light and color, along with bold brushwork, almost exclusively in oils. It can be found in many notable private collections, including that of HM Queen Elizabeth and several prominent racing stables.
I am passionate about teaching art, having had a varied art education myself: a year at a contemporary art school in Paris, studying Aesthetics and Classical Art at Durham University, and finally enrolling in traditional atelier training in Florence. In the past decade, I have developed a strong academic interest in color theory, the study of which has greatly improved both my own practice and teaching.
I derive immense satisfaction from aiding artists of all skill levels in improving or rediscovering their creativity, enabling them to surpass their abilities. Over the years, I've conducted numerous courses, workshops, and provided private tuition, lectures, and practical demonstrations.
